Drawing & Illustration

Like many of us, drawing was my entry into visual art and what was integral to feeling empowered to explore my imagination as a child. In my early years, it allowed me to feel more connected to things I cared about, and as I moved through adolescence and into early adulthood, I became very focused on developing my technical skills. While I am grateful for this stage of my development as a visual creator, I now realize it had its limitations. I was very product-oriented for some time, and am thankful to have arrived more recently at a point where I feel a better balance between process and product. I really enjoy the flow state I can find while drawing. As I was in the past, I am still very interested in observational drawing and realism, but I feel more free to experiment with mixed media and to use the act of drawing as a method of seeing.
